A planar motion mechanism (PMM) is manufactured and installed in the Hydrodynamics Laboratory of Isfahan University of Technology, Subsea Research and development Institute. Using PMM, different surface and subsurface models can be subjected to transverse and longitudinal sinusoidal maneuvers. Upon measuring the forces and moments during various maneuvers applied by the PMM to the models of surface or subsurface marine models, their hydrodynamics coefficients can be measured. The hydrodynamic coefficients can be used to study the dynamic behavior of the marine vessels.
